"Hey – for the third time in the past week all the lights on the second floor were left on – I know we are trying to support “Cow Power” and all – but maybe this is going a little far? Could the last person who leaves at night please double check upstairs lights? – Thanks!"
I wanted to share with everyone my disappointment in myself...
Kate & I were in NY city for a fabric show this week and after totaling up my expense report I noticed that averaging what I spent and guessing what Kate also spent on bottled water, the total cost came to around $25.00. That is for a total of 2 days.
That is crazy! Plus, to top it off, NY city has some of the best drinking water in the nation! We could have been drinking from the faucet the whole time.
Sorry to load everyone up with MORE e-mails but I really needed to share my disappointment. Lesson learned. So everyone knows, at the OR show this summer and going forward we are planning on getting a water bubbler like we have here to prevent this problem, we are also looking into recyclable or compost ready cups.

to Action and went to the recycle center in Woodstock and we are able to recycle
all of our catalogs! I left it in Action’s hands and said to let me know when/if
he needs help. Thought that was cool.

Hello all!
I would like to tell you about the new
vegetable garden here at ibex!
The motivation behind our ibex garden came
from the belief that eating as local as possible is the best practice, it saves
money, fuel and time and we also know it’s history. If we have the space and a
few helping hands then why not have a garden?! The garden has been growing
beautifully over the past few weeks, so we should have great veggies to share
with everyone soon.
The garden has been easy to keep up since the initial
organization, now it is a matter of keeping the garden happy and healthy.
Everyone will benefit and enjoy the veggies regardless if you would like to
participate or not! If you would like to participate one day a week or once
every two weeks depending on how many folks are interested, please respond to
this e-mail and be sure to CC everyone and add your name to a day of the
week.
Tasks are mainly watering & weeding. On everyone’s first day I
will go through what we have growing and what supplies we have to work with.

May 14th to 18th was International Bike-to-Work Week. Figures it would be the rainiest week of the season around here, but we got out there in our wool anyway.
(And we fared much better than this guy).
Collectively, Ibex cycled 280 miles to and from work over the course of the week, saving about 11.5 gallons of gas. Since one gallon of gas
creates 20 lbs. of carbon dioxide, our CO2 savings amounted to 220 pounds for
the week.
We feel a wee bit lighter after our efforts.

The accounting dept has initiated "Paperless Office" - which means all of the printing we do (and it's A LOT!!!) is no longer being done - all our reports are filed electronically in .pdf format.

Our Staff Accountant, Audrey, reports on how she and her husband spent their Earth Day:
"Josh and I took advantage of the beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. With the top off the Jeep we drove up and down two miles of our dirt road in Charlestown on Sunday for two hours picking up litter. The picture is kind of boring, but we ended up picking up eight bags of litter, 10% of which was actually garbage and the rest was recyclables. We learned two important things: (1) Budweiser is the beer of choice for the Charlestownian litters and (2) brown bottles hide all too well in the dirt and grass away from the naked eye of drivers on the road."
We'll drink to that!
This inaugural "Green Commute" day was dedicated to Earth Day, but we're just getting warmed up.
